Sometimes, the Windows Plug and Play feature can get in your way rather than help you. If you already have too many windows on your screen, a USB drive's auto-play menu popping up out of nowhere is the last thing you would need. USBee can make your life much easier when it comes to managing USB storage devices. It replaces the annoying auto-play windows with small boxes, which you can use to quickly access your USB drives and perform other actions. The application comes with an integrated security system as well, which shields your system against known and unknown malware threats.

USBee works on all popular 32 or 64-bit Windows platforms. It can be installed in a matter of seconds and the procedure does not involve anything more than clicking a few Next buttons. The application doesn't ask for too many resources and you don't have to meet any special requirements.

When launched, USBee will display a series of small boxes, for all USB ports, on the left edge of the screen. If you plug in a USB device, the application will automatically scan and immunize it. Furthermore, your device's free space will be displayed on one of the aforementioned boxes and you can add more information if you want to. If you wish to copy one or more files to a device, you can drag and drop them over a box.

The software allows you to assign names, contact numbers, emails, addresses and even pictures to individual USB devices. If you have multiple devices plugged into your computer, you will know which one is which and how much free space they have, just by glancing over their corresponding boxes. Although they will stay on top of everything else on your screen, the boxes are not intrusive and you can also minimize them. In addition, USBee allows you to eject your USB devices, just by closing their corresponding boxes, which takes a single click.

Names, descriptions and pictures can be assigned to one or more devices on a user interface, which can be accessed through the application's system tray icon. You can find other useful features, on the same interface, for scanning and immunizing USB drives, managing a quarantine and encrypting folders. When launched, the application automatically disables the USB auto-run feature. Additionally, by immunizing a drive, you can prevent USB drives or applications on those drives from launching automatically on any computer and avoid auto-run virus infections.

Pros

The application makes it easier to access your USB drives. It allows you to assign information and avatars to your drives. USBee can also scan your drives for viruses and immunize them.

Cons

There are no serious drawbacks to mention. Besides accessing your USB drives in a comfortable and elegant fashion, USBee can also help you protect your system against any virus threats from connected USB drives.
